SewMe Privacy Statement

Last Updated: July 2026 | Beta Operational Version

At SewMe ("we," "us," or "our"), we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information of both our apparel makers ("Sewists") and buyers ("Customers"). This Privacy Statement explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your data when you use our mobile application, website, and intermediary platform services.

By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

To successfully connect Customers with Sewists and facilitate custom apparel creation, we collect several categories of information:

  • Account Credentials: Name, email address, phone number, and account password.

  • Profile Information: Profile pictures, location (city/state/province), and biographical details or portfolios (primarily for Sewists).

  • Measurement Profiles: Biological dimensions, sizing data, fit preferences, and physical measurements input by Customers to ensure proper garment fabrication.

  • Project Assets: Photographs, design inspiration images, sketches, fabric preferences, and video logs uploaded to the Milestone Progress Page.

  • Payment Processing: All financial transactions are processed securely through our third-party payment gateway provider, Stripe. We do not store raw credit card numbers or banking passwords on our servers. Stripe provides us with limited transactional tokens, payment status summaries, and payout routing details required to manage the escrow system.

  • Usage Data: IP addresses, device operating systems, app version logs, and interaction history within the app (such as message timestamps and milestone approvals).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data to maintain, optimize, and secure our peer-to-peer marketplace. Specifically, your data is used to:

  • Facilitate the core escrow workflow, project matchmaking, and milestone messaging systems.

  • Verify user eligibility and process payouts from escrow accounts directly to Sewists via Stripe.

  • Enable SewMe to act as the final arbitrator in user disputes by reviewing chat transcripts, sizing logs, and milestone progress photos.

  • Send automated transactional updates, such as project milestone alerts, delivery tracking updates, and critical system changes.

  • Troubleshoot bugs, analyze app performance, and improve user experience during our live Beta testing phase.

3. How Data is Shared Between Marketplace Parties

Because SewMe is an intermediary platform, sharing specific data between users is necessary to complete custom apparel orders:

  • Shared with Sewists: When a Customer hires a Sewist, the platform shares the Customer’s measurement profiles, design assets, and delivery address to allow the Sewist to accurately craft and ship the garment.

  • Shared with Customers: The Sewist’s public profile, portfolio images, and user ratings are shared with Customers to help them make informed booking choices.

Data Restraint Rule: Users are strictly prohibited from using another user’s personal information (such as a physical address or phone number) for any purpose outside of the specific SewMe project transaction. Off-platform solicitation or harassment is a violation of our terms.

4. Third-Party Disclosures

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third-party marketers. We only share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in running our platform, including:

  • Payment Gateways: Stripe, to handle payment processing, identity verification, and cross-border US/Canadian payouts.

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Secure hosting, database, and storage providers used to store project photos and milestone files.

  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose data if required by law, subpoena, or government authorities in the United States or Canada, or if necessary to protect the safety, rights, and property of our users or the platform.

5. Cross-Border Transfers (US & Canada)

Because we operate in both the United States and Canada, data collected through the platform may be transferred to, stored, and processed in either country. This means your data may be subject to the laws and access requests of regulatory authorities in both jurisdictions. By using the app, you consent to this cross-border transfer.

6. Your Rights and Data Controls

We believe you should have control over your personal data. Depending on your state or province of residence, you have the following rights:

  • Access and Correction: You can view, update, or correct your account details and measurement data directly through your profile settings in the app.

  • Data Deletion: You may request the permanent deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time. Note: if you have an active project or funds currently tied up in an escrow dispute, data deletion will be deferred until the transaction is legally closed and settled.

  • Marketing Opt-Out: You can opt out of non-transactional marketing communications at any time using the "Unsubscribe" links provided in our emails.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. However, please note that no digital transmission over the internet or mobile network can be guaranteed 100% secure.

8. Changes to This Privacy Statement

As we continue to test and develop the SewMe app during its Beta phase, we may update this Privacy Statement to reflect changes in our data collection practices or legal obligations. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy inside the app with a revised "Last Updated" date.
